Stainless Steel Pitcher

I’ve always admired baristas and considered them artists.

But ordering coffee from an untested barista? That’s a lottery.

One thing is certain : coffee drinkers are creatures of habit. We can recite our order half-asleep, and I know mine like the back of my hand—smooth flat white, oat milk, chocolate sprinkles.

Thankfully, so does every barista at my favourite café.

So, I was devastated when I found out it was closing for two weeks for renovations.

Suddenly, I remembered the forgotten coffee machine gathering dust in my apartment. Pulling the espresso shot was the easy part. Frothing milk, however, felt like walking a tightrope blindfolded.

Still, taking a leap of faith, I bought a stainless steel pitcher and spent hours studying videos, determined to create the smoothest flat white possible.

Sharpening my skills cost me two cartons of milk, but the stainless steel pitcher proved worth every penny.

Instead of feeling pressure when frothing, I now feel like Michael Jordan in Game 6—

calm, confident, and ready to leave my signature with every pour.

Now I find myself wondering…

Should I change careers and become a barista?

As an unlikely member of this illustrious group of artists, I can honestly say this: anyone can go from apprentice to master.

All you need is your milk of choice—and a stainless steel pitcher.
